Plateau: Plateq Chairman Welcomes Successful Contingent, Seeks Support for Athletes

The Chairman of the Plateau State Teqball Association (PLATEQ), Chief Miri Timnan Nyantau has welcomed the Plateau State contingent that represented the state at the just concluded Teqball National Challenger Cup Series 2021 in Abuja.

In a Press Release signed by the State Secretary of PLATEQ, Stephen M. Paul, on the 1st of September, 2021, the Chairman praised the courage and determination of the 10 man contingent that represented the state despite the mood in the state.

The Press Release in Part Reads:

“PLATEQ praises the performance of the 10 man contingent that represented the state despite the recent happenings and mood in the state.

Your courage, determination and sacrifices are exemplary and it is commendable as it will spur other athletes from the state in National competitions. PLATEQ is proud of you!

It is worthy to note that Team Plateau came overall second in the Country behind Kwara State with Ten (10) medals which include:

  • 2 gold
  • 6 silver
  • 2 bronze
  • 3 fourth places finishes

The medals were claimed in Series one, Series two, Series three and Series four of the Challenger Cup.”

Chief Miri Nyantau according to the Release is optimistic that ahead of the Teqball World Cup in Hungary later this year, Team Plateau is going to be one of the Country’s representatives.

He went further to call on the Plateau State Government as well as other spirited individuals in the private sector to reward the athletes that stood tall to bring laurels to the State at these trying times.
