Plateau United continued their good run of form at home with a comfortable 3-0 win over Heartland FC of Owerri in the Match Day four fixture of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), played on Sunday, 2nd of January, 2022 at the New Jos Stadium.
Technical Adviser of Plateau United, Fidelis Ilechukwu this time around got the better of another of his former team, Heartland FC as he couldn’t get the better of MFM FC in Lagos in Match Day three.
Heartland FC started the game on a front foot, getting the first two chances of the game but Daniel Itodo’s block and Plateau United’s goalkeeper, Panshak Silas save denied Heartland the opener.
Jesse Akila then opened the scoring in the 18th minute courtesy of an assist from Muhammad Zulkifilu.
The game went into the break with result at 1-0 in favour of the home side, but on resumption of the second half, Izuchukwu Chimizie scored the second goal of the game in the 48th minute courtesy of an assist from substitute Reuben Bala.
Reuben Bala did not stop there as he created another assist for Muhammad Zulkifilu to score the third goal of the game in the 73rd minute.

Reacting to questions at the end of the game, Coach of the side Hamza Abara said, “The team is gradually getting to understand each other, but nevertheless we strongly believe that the three points is very important. As you all know, football is all about the repetition of mistakes for you to adjust or for opponent to adjust and carry the day”.
On why the team has not started playing beautifully, he said, “As you can see we don’t need the beauty of the game for now. All what we are after is the three maximum points and we have gotten it”.
Plateau United will next travel to Ikenne to face newly promoted Remo Stars who are unbeaten and topping the log in the Match Day 5 fixture of the NPFL.
