Ahead of the upcoming Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Elections coming up later in the month, Ekiti state FA Chairman, Bayo Olanlege has thrown his weight behind Barr. Seyi Akinwunmi’s candidacy, describing him as the right man for the job.
Bayo Olanlege made the position of the Ekiti State FA known today (6th of September 2022) in a zoom meeting with stakeholders and journalists, saying he would not want to lie to other contestants and waste their time.

According to Olanlege, “One of the reasons why we have pitched our tents with Barr. Seyi Akinwunmi is that like I have said earlier, almost everybody coming out has the pedigree and the competence, but we are talking about the most qualified. And when we are talking about the most qualified, it has absolutely nothing to do with which part of the country the person is from, it has to do with what the person has to offer.
“And we are completely convinced that of all the good men that have come out to contest for this position the best person right now for all of us is Barr. Seyi Akinwunmi.
“So many wonderful men that I love so much that I want to keep a very good relationship with after September 30th are contesting for this position but I will not want to sit and be lying to them wasting their time talking to me and trying to convince me.
The Ekiti state FA boss went on to mention Barr. Seyi Akinwunmi’s contribution to the growth of football in the country, his grassroots development programs, his contribution to women’s football and above all, his passion for Nigerian football.
