Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Ali, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division, Nigerian Army, Rukuba, near Jos, has advised military officers to participate in the game of golf.
Ali, gave the advice at the closing of the Amateur Golf Tournament organized by the Rhino Golf and Country Club, 3 division, on Sunday in Jos, the Plateau state capital.
The GOC, who is the patron of the golf club, said that playing golf would enhance their career, particularly in the area of quality decision-making.
“In other climes, the game of golf is compulsory for military officers and this is because it helps in making quick and quality decisions.
“So, I’m calling on our officers to participate in the game of golf because it will enhance their career,” he said.

Speaking, Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau, represented by Mr. Dan Manjang, the Commissioner for Information and Communication in the state, thanked both the organizers and players who participated in the tournament.
He maintained that the game of golf had improved the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state via a series of competitions organized by various golf clubs’ domicile in the state.
The governor promised to support the game of golf at all levels even after his tenure as governor.
Mr. Asiko Akson, who emerged as the overall winner of the competition after scoring 131 points over 36 holes, got a tricycle as a star prize.
Akson, who is a member of both Rhino and Rayfield gold clubs, both in Jos, promised to support the game of golf at all levels.
