Ekiti State Football Association has directed Local Football Councils in the state to stage LFC Unity Cup, as part of moves to enhance grassroots football and grooming of talents.
According to a statement issued at the end of the body’s monthly meeting held virtually, the councils are expected to organise the grassroots-based football tourneys between November and December this year.

At the meeting, the state football association also underscored the need to create the Chief Executive Officer position for the Ekiti State League. With an experienced individual in charge, the body believes the league will transform into an ‘’eye-catching league’’.
On Ekiti’s preparations for the zonal elimination of the National Youth Games commencing September 1 in Ibadan, Oyo state’s capital, the association promised to provide adequate support to the state’s football team – U15 Boys team.
Examining the development of football in Nigeria, the association appreciated the efforts of President Amaju Melvin Pinnick-led Board of the Nigerian Football Federation in seeking the growth of the game.
While commenting on the recent appointment of Mr. Adekunle Adeyemi as the Acting General Manager of the State Sports Council, the body praised Gov. Kayode Fayemi for displaying consistency in providing a conducive environment for the development of football in Ekiti state.
The football body further approved September 11, 2021, for the grand finale of BAFEM Cup 2021. Among other things, the body also picked September 18 , 2021, for the hosting of the Ekiti State Referees Council and the handing over ceremony of prospective Referees in training (RITs), to the Council.
