EKITI: MINISTRY OF EDUCATION APPLAUDS FA’s SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME

The Ekiti State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has lauded the Ekiti State Football Association for the myriad of initiatives and competitions aimed at the development of the youth through sports in Ekiti.

The Ministry made this commendation in a letter dated 9th September, 2021 signed by a staff of the ministry, Mrs. M.A Ilesanmi on behalf of the Permanent Secretary congratulated Ekiti Football Association for their laudable achievement in moving sports forward in the State.

The ministry was reacting to the information received about the Ekiti FA Scholarship Scheme through which ten outstanding young footballers scouted from the Oba Ademola Ajakaiye Memorial U-13 football tournament and the Prof. Akin Oyebode U-15 football competition for boys and girls, are currently enjoying education and or sports scholarships.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Dr. Mrs. Olabimpe  Aderiye saluted the initiative of Ekiti FA in rewarding excellent performances and the overall strides towards the advancement of youth using football in the state.

The beneficiaries, comprising of seven boys and three girls were the standout performers in the aforementioned competitions, which some of them already had their school fees paid for a year.

They will also all receive sports kits through the Ekiti FA Scholarship Scheme sponsored by some Bet9ja Agents in Ekiti state and eminent Ekiti state personalities including the Hon. Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Hon. Akintunde Oyebode, the Tade Gboyega Foundation and the Temitayo Zubair Abdul Rasaq (TZAR) Foundation..

Reacting to the letter, the Chairman of Ekiti State Football Association, Mr. Bayo Olanlege credited the feat to the late Oba Ajakaiye Royal Family in Iyin Ekiti and the Professor Akin Oyebode dynasty for their commitment to provide a platform for young and talented footballers in the state to strut their stuffs.

He disclosed that all the identified players will be presented with their Ekiti FA customized kits in a ceremony in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the Ekiti State Sports Council.
