With Plateau United’s qualification to the CAF Champions League by virtue of the team finishing as runners up in the just concluded 2021/22 season of the Nigeria Professional Football League, Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu, the Technical Adviser of Plateau United FC, says he would need to shore up his team for the challenging season ahead, saying he would need fifteen players.
In this exclusive interview, the TA stated that there are many players wanting to join the team and urged the management to act swiftly to get the deals done.

“Looking at what we have at hand now, I can tell you that we need up to 15 good players. There are so many players that want to join us, the management just needs to act as fast as possible.
“If we try to get this and get that and it didn’t work, we will get the little we can get so they can enter camp on time and start preparations.
“The most important thing is looking at the contract of the current players, that’s the reason why I am going to the office tomorrow to see all the players contracts”, Ilechukwu stated.
When asked about the rumors going round that NPFL Champions, Rivers United are in need of some of his players, he said, “One of the qualities of a good coach is retaining the good players you have at hand, I don’t want my players to go to Rivers United because, if I do that, then I am not a good manager. We are capable of paying what Rivers United will pay. Plateau United is one of the best team in Nigeria when it comes to players salary”.
